We were founded in February of 2015, and we’re based in sunny Redwood City, California - the epicenter of both Silicon Valley and the future of robotics.

Role

We’ve started first shipments of our adorable home robot, Kuri, and there’s a lot more coming so we’re ramping up our Customer Support team. We know how critical it is that we take excellent care of our current customers as well as everyone who reaches out to us with questions, ideas, and of course, orders. We want our customers to love us; maybe they send us hand-drawn robot greeting cards, or maybe they bring us homemade cookies. Ideally, they tell their friends that we are their favorite robot company ever because we’re just so darn helpful. We’re looking for someone who is genuine and detail oriented so that questions and requests are answered quickly, warmly, and delightfully. And of course, they should be just as friendly in real life when we go to events.

This isn’t a boring job. We’re a small group, and this role will involve collaborating across the company, with lots of dynamic opportunities that suit a self-starting, clever, and entrepreneurial spirit who is excited to learn along the way. This is a totally new space and we’re building *actual* robots, so there’s a lot left for all of us to learn. You’ll have a real impact from day one, you’ll directly help us shape the public’s perception of our brand, and just like the rest of us here, you’ll often leave the office smarter than you were when the day started.

Responsibilities

  • Work inside our customer support system (Zendesk) including macros, ticket workflows, and internal coordination
  • Coordinate inbound requests via email and chat
  • Coordinate FAQ content, and fact finding for new questions
  • Coordinate with Social Media team to align across channels
  • Represent Mayfield Robotics at public events
  • Bring ideas and enthusiasm
  • Other delightful duties as assigned, because hey, startup

Requirements

  • Be really good at making people happy
  • Have a passion for robots
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in customer service, ideally for a premium hardware product/brand
  • Extensive and recent experience with Zendesk or similar customer support tools
  • Some domestic travel required, including weekends
  • A degree of some kind, or a really great life story
  • A talent for brevity and eloquence without obfuscation
  • Flawless grammatical accuracy and precision
  • Be a team player with a positive energy and attitude
  • 18 months (or more) in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Customer Service role

Bonus Points For

  • Fluency in other languages, ideally Japanese, or Chinese, or Spanish
  • Experience in delightfully chaotic startup environments
